Welcome to Port Credit, commonly referred to as Mississauga’s “Village on the Lake”, Mississauga’s top cultural entertainment hub for shopping events, music and world class dining on the waterfront, and award-winning festivals and events.
Port Credit has maintained its historical charm with cosmopolitan flair and savvy and is evident when you stroll along Port Credit’s charming streets. This beautiful community offers something for everyone, with a wide array of restaurants, unique shops, services and cafes, all within easy walking distance from each other.
The Busker Fest, a Canada celebrations event includes an Art Show along the waterfront, and Farmer’s Market… all making Port Credit an exciting and vibrant communityPort Credit’s distinctive red and white working lighthouse, with a beaconing lighthouse that can be seen for miles, anchors the harbour on Lake Ontario, welcoming everyone who approaches, to the oldest settlements in Ontario to the nautical theme of Port Credit village. Port Credit is an international border entry point into Canada by water.
Port Credit has preserved its nautical character due to the number of preserved residential and commercial buildings dating back from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. These building were built by, and for those who made a living on the water. This area is known as “Old Port Credit Village” and has been designated as an Ontario Heritage conservation district.
Some of the festival and events hosted by Port Credit are:
- The Waterfront Festival which occurs at the end of June
- The Port Credit In-Water Boat Show, Ontario’s largest in-water boat show, held annually in August at the Port Credit Harbour Marina.
- Southside Shuffle, an annual three day Blues and Jazz festival held in September
- Port Credit’s Busker Fest held in August
